This tour offers the best combination of the main attractions in Lima and its’ three historical periods: PreHispanic or ancestral, colonial and contemporary.

In the Lima area there were numerous pre-Columbian cultures that date back thousands of years. The region was part of the Inca Empire until 1535 when Francisco Pizarro founded the Colonial city of Lima here. The Peruvian Vice royalty was the most important in the Spanish Colonial Empire and Lima was its capital. On this city tour, you’ll see the most important squares, churches and colonial mansions. See the Plaza Mayor (main plaza), Plaza San Martin (San Martin Square) and Plaza Grau. In the main plaza, see the City Hall, the Government’s Palace, the Archbishops Palace and the main Basilica Cathedral. Then spend about an hour in the San Francisco Convent and catacombs, a true 16th century architectural and artistic gem.

In Lima’s historic center we’ll visit one of Lima’s most beautiful buildings, the Museum of the Central Bank Reserve, where in the old basement vault, we can admire many of Peru’s treasures: a fine display of gold objects, pre-Columbian ceramics and textiles.

The tour continues passing near the old ‘Desamparados’ train station, and Exposition park, then on through the modern district of San Isidro passing the famous Parque los Olivos or ‘Olive Grove Park’, where Spanish conquistadores planted thousands of olive trees, then to the district of Miraflores with a visit to ‘Huaca Pucllana’, a pre-Inca adobe pyramid smack in the middle of the bustling city. We round out the tour with a stop at Lover’s Park or ‘Parque del Amor’ with a stupendous view of the Pacific Ocean followed by transfer to your hotel.
