Day 1 Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (L,D) You’ll be collected from your hotel in Cusco or The Sacred Valley of the Incas for transfer to the train station. We’ll board the train that will take us to km.104 (trailhead) on the Cusco – Machupicchu railroad. We start by visiting the Chachabamba archaeological complex (2150m/7052ft), located very close to the control point. Then, we go up. Embark on an 8 km (5 mile) ascending trail in route to the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna (2650m/8692ft). It’s an impressive complex made up of an agricultural center, numerous terraces, a religious sector and an urban sector. On the hike enjoy magnificent views of the Urubamba River valley and the Choquesuysuy archaeological complex located on the other side of the river.
After a superb box lunch in Wiñay Huayna we continue through the cloud forest full of bromeliads, orchids and ferns. From Wiñay Huayna to Machu Picchu you are retracing the footsteps of the Inca, as it is all original Ceremonial Inca Trail construction. As our trek continues we arrive to and climb the “Intipunku”, or Sun Gate. This is our first chance to see the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu from a distance. From Intipunku we descend to Machu Picchu, have a few minutes for pictures and then down to Aguas Calientes by local shuttle.

Following the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore, rest, meditate or simply chill out in the archaeological complex.
